My wife and I are very happy we went with Ultimate pools by Fetter for our pool. We talked to a couple of other companies and were impressed by Fetter because they didn’t try to talk us into anything we didn’t want. They were patient with us during our design phase as we started out wanting a spa and water feature and then changing our minds to just getting a pool. At no time did they try to talk us into into getting a particular pebble finish or plaster finish for the interior. Ross was straight forward about what he thought would work best for us and told us the pros and cons for every decision we made. He was great at explaining the process and what to expect each step of the way. Once the pool was complete, they have been great at answering all of our questions about pool chemistry too! We would definitely recommend using them to put in your pool! We went with a French Gray plaster and love the way the water color turned out.

We absolutely love our pool done by Ultimate Pools by Fetter! Ross is by far the most knowledgeable pool contractor out there and we had quotes from 6 different contractors. Ross went above and beyond researching laws to allow us to change our backyard, that other contractors wanted myself to do. He is definitely a step a head of the game at all times. I highly recommend this company to any one thinking about building a pool. Ross was with us a 100% of the way and a phone call away at all times if needed. We will have a lifetime of memories in our backyard due to what Ross created for us.
Lodi, CA
Frequently Asked Questions
What outdoor living features are most popular in Lodi? +
Outdoor kitchens and covered dining areas are among the most consistently requested features — Lodi’s long outdoor season makes entertaining outside genuinely practical. Fire features are popular for extending the season into fall and winter evenings. Shade structures are important for midday heat even with delta breezes. Tanning ledges within the pool are increasingly popular for families.
How does Lodi’s climate affect outdoor living material choices? +
Lodi’s delta breezes make afternoon outdoor conditions more comfortable than in many surrounding cities, but summer mornings before the breeze arrives can still be hot. Lighter-toned decking materials with lower thermal mass — travertine, light concrete, certain pavers — perform best. Natural stone that complements Lodi’s wine country aesthetic often works well from both a durability and comfort standpoint.
Do outdoor structures require permits in Lodi? +
Yes. Permanent outdoor structures — attached pergolas, outdoor kitchens with gas and electrical, and similar features — require permits through San Joaquin County. Fetter handles permit applications for the full scope of work we design and build, including outdoor living structures, as part of every Lodi project.
Can Fetter handle the complete backyard build in Lodi? +
Yes. Fetter handles the complete scope — pool, spa, decking, outdoor kitchen, pergola, fire features, and water features — as a unified project. One team, one design vision, one point of accountability from concept through completion. For full landscape installation beyond hardscape, we coordinate with or refer trusted partners in the area.
How does Lodi’s wine country setting influence backyard design? +
Lodi’s character — the Mokelumne River, wine country heritage, long evenings that reward outdoor gathering — shapes the outdoor living aesthetic that works best here. Natural materials, warm lighting, fire features for cooler evenings, and outdoor kitchens designed for serious entertaining all fit naturally. Fetter designs to the character of the community and the way homeowners here actually want to use their outdoor space.
