My wife and I are very happy we went with Ultimate pools by Fetter for our pool. We talked to a couple of other companies and were impressed by Fetter because they didn’t try to talk us into anything we didn’t want. They were patient with us during our design phase as we started out wanting a spa and water feature and then changing our minds to just getting a pool. At no time did they try to talk us into into getting a particular pebble finish or plaster finish for the interior. Ross was straight forward about what he thought would work best for us and told us the pros and cons for every decision we made. He was great at explaining the process and what to expect each step of the way. Once the pool was complete, they have been great at answering all of our questions about pool chemistry too! We would definitely recommend using them to put in your pool! We went with a French Gray plaster and love the way the water color turned out.

We absolutely love our pool done by Ultimate Pools by Fetter! Ross is by far the most knowledgeable pool contractor out there and we had quotes from 6 different contractors. Ross went above and beyond researching laws to allow us to change our backyard, that other contractors wanted myself to do. He is definitely a step a head of the game at all times. I highly recommend this company to any one thinking about building a pool. Ross was with us a 100% of the way and a phone call away at all times if needed. We will have a lifetime of memories in our backyard due to what Ross created for us.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does Fetter handle River Islands HOA approval for pool construction? +
River Islands HOA requires architectural review before pool construction can begin. Fetter prepares the HOA submittal package — site plan, design drawings, equipment placement, fencing details — and works with homeowners to navigate the review. This runs alongside the county permit process so both approvals advance in parallel rather than sequentially.
What permits are required for pool construction in Lathrop? +
Pool permits in Lathrop are issued by San Joaquin County via electronic submittal, with processing typically around two weeks. River Islands homeowners also need HOA architectural approval before construction begins. Inspections in Lathrop are generally available next day. Fetter manages the county permit and coordinates all required inspections on every Lathrop project.
How does Fetter handle groundwater during construction in Lathrop? +
On properties where groundwater is present during excavation, the construction plan includes hydrostatic relief provisions — a valve or engineered drainage system built into the pool shell to relieve hydrostatic pressure when the pool is drained for service. Fetter assesses groundwater conditions during the site visit and builds the appropriate provisions into the pool design before construction begins.
What is the garage door latch requirement for Lathrop pools? +
California pool barrier code requires a latch on the inside of the garage door when the garage door forms part of the pool barrier. This ensures the garage cannot be used as an unlatched bypass around the required barrier. Fetter installs the latch as standard practice on every Lathrop project where this code requirement applies.
Does Fetter build with gunite in Lathrop? +
Yes. Every pool Fetter builds is gunite — pneumatically applied concrete that achieves excellent structural density and can be applied in the thickness that Lathrop’s expansive clay and groundwater conditions require. Fetter does not install fiberglass or above-ground pools.
