Water Features

Water Features services in Lathrop and surrounding areas

Lathrop’s River Islands community was designed around water — man-made waterways, boat access, and an aesthetic that integrates the natural and built environment. Water features on a River Islands pool fit naturally into that context, and HOA architectural review evaluates them for design compatibility with community standards. Fetter designs water features as part of the overall pool concept and includes them in the HOA submittal so they are reviewed as part of the full project. Outside River Islands, water features proceed through county permitting without the HOA overlay.

For Lathrop’s soil conditions, sheer descents and deck jets are structurally efficient choices — they deliver strong visual and sound impact without the masonry load that rock waterfalls and grottos add to expansive clay. On properties with more stable soil profiles, natural rock waterfalls are viable with proper structural engineering. The right feature for a given property depends on the site assessment. LED lighting integrated into or positioned behind water features creates nighttime effects that genuinely extend backyard use into the evening hours, and automated controls allow full management from a smartphone. Fetter designs the full package — feature, lighting, and automation — as a coordinated system. Call (209) 545-3002 to discuss water features for your Lathrop pool.

What Our Customers Say

We absolutely love our pool done by Ultimate Pools by Fetter! Ross is by far the most knowledgeable pool contractor out there and we had quotes from 6 different contractors. Ross went above and beyond researching laws to allow us to change our backyard, that other contractors wanted myself to do. He is definitely a step a head of the game at all times. I highly recommend this company to any one thinking about building a pool. Ross was with us a 100% of the way and a phone call away at all times if needed. We will have a lifetime of memories in our backyard due to what Ross created for us.

Four years in and this pool still delivers on every promise made at the start. From the first consultation through swim day, the process was smooth and the crew was great to work with. They built exactly what we envisioned — the right shape, the right features, and a bubbler the kids love. When our pool light went out years later, they replaced it at no charge with a smile. Best decision we ever made.

My wife and I are very happy we went with Ultimate pools by Fetter for our pool. We talked to a couple of other companies and were impressed by Fetter because they didn’t try to talk us into anything we didn’t want. They were patient with us during our design phase as we started out wanting a spa and water feature and then changing our minds to just getting a pool. At no time did they try to talk us into into getting a particular pebble finish or plaster finish for the interior. Ross was straight forward about what he thought would work best for us and told us the pros and cons for every decision we made. He was great at explaining the process and what to expect each step of the way. Once the pool was complete, they have been great at answering all of our questions about pool chemistry too! We would definitely recommend using them to put in your pool! We went with a French Gray plaster and love the way the water color turned out.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does River Islands HOA need to approve water features? +
Yes. River Islands HOA architectural review covers the full pool project including water features. Design compatibility, materials, and placement are all evaluated. Fetter includes water features in the HOA submittal package as part of the full project review so there is no separate submission required.
What water features work well with Lathrop’s soil conditions? +
Sheer descents and deck jets are well-suited to expansive clay because they deliver strong impact without adding masonry load to the soil. On properties with more stable profiles, rock waterfalls are viable with structural engineering. Fetter identifies the right options based on the soil conditions at each specific property.
Do River Islands water features need to match community aesthetics? +
River Islands HOA evaluates water features for design compatibility with community standards. Features that align with the waterway-oriented, natural aesthetic of the community tend to move through the HOA review process more smoothly. Fetter designs with both the homeowner’s preferences and HOA compatibility in mind.
Can water features be added to an existing Lathrop pool? +
Some features can be retrofitted. Deck jets adapt more easily than structural additions like grottos or raised waterfalls. Any retrofit in River Islands also requires HOA review and potentially a county permit amendment. Fetter assesses retrofit requests case by case.
Does LED lighting work well with water features in Lathrop? +
Yes. LED lighting integrated into or positioned behind water features is one of the highest-impact elements in a backyard pool design. The effect at night is substantially different from daytime, and it extends backyard use well into the evening. Fetter incorporates lighting into every water feature design as part of the overall lighting plan.
