We absolutely love our pool done by Ultimate Pools by Fetter! Ross is by far the most knowledgeable pool contractor out there and we had quotes from 6 different contractors. Ross went above and beyond researching laws to allow us to change our backyard, that other contractors wanted myself to do. He is definitely a step a head of the game at all times. I highly recommend this company to any one thinking about building a pool. Ross was with us a 100% of the way and a phone call away at all times if needed. We will have a lifetime of memories in our backyard due to what Ross created for us.

My wife and I are very happy we went with Ultimate pools by Fetter for our pool. We talked to a couple of other companies and were impressed by Fetter because they didn’t try to talk us into anything we didn’t want. They were patient with us during our design phase as we started out wanting a spa and water feature and then changing our minds to just getting a pool. At no time did they try to talk us into into getting a particular pebble finish or plaster finish for the interior. Ross was straight forward about what he thought would work best for us and told us the pros and cons for every decision we made. He was great at explaining the process and what to expect each step of the way. Once the pool was complete, they have been great at answering all of our questions about pool chemistry too! We would definitely recommend using them to put in your pool! We went with a French Gray plaster and love the way the water color turned out.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I fit a pool in a newer Oakdale subdivision like Burchell Hill or Carmel Ranch? +
In many cases, yes. The best way to find out is an on-site assessment where we measure your usable backyard area, identify setback constraints from property lines and the home foundation, and assess soil and drainage conditions. Compact geometric pools, plunge pools, and integrated pool-and-spa designs can often fit in smaller lots while still delivering a genuinely enjoyable outdoor space.
What types of pools work best for smaller Oakdale backyards? +
Geometric pools — rectangles and squares — use space most efficiently. Plunge pools (typically 10–15 feet long) work well for cooling and soaking without requiring full lap-swimming dimensions. Integrated spa alcoves or spillway spas add year-round functionality without significant additional footprint. Fetter assesses your specific yard and recommends what makes sense for your dimensions and goals.
How does Oakdale's heat affect pool design for smaller yards? +
With July highs averaging 102.8 degrees in Oakdale, a pool is a practical investment in how you use your home through the summer months. For smaller yards, we factor shade structure placement and decking material selection into the design — some surfaces get extremely hot underfoot in direct afternoon sun, which affects usability as much as aesthetics.
Will a small pool look out of place in my Oakdale backyard? +
Not with thoughtful design. A pool that is well proportioned to its yard and connected naturally to the home and any outdoor living spaces looks like a deliberate choice, not a compromise. The pools that look inadequate are typically ones designed without regard for the surrounding space. Fetter designs for the yard first — the pool size and shape follow from that process.
Does Oakdale's clay soil affect small pool construction? +
In older Oakdale neighborhoods with clay-heavy soils, drainage design is especially important — clay that holds water seasonally can cause movement under pool decking over time if not properly accounted for. Fetter’s site assessment identifies soil conditions specific to your property and ensures the design includes appropriate drainage provisions.
